I haven’t set foot in East Africa since I was 16 and didn’t care about anything other than running away from insects, being judged by everyone and the state of my nails. I still care about the state of my nails. This week I’m off to Kenya for a month-long adventure and I can’t wait.
There’s so much to look forward to, from the exotic (scary) animals in the Masai Mara to the white sandy beaches of Mombasa, with familial doses of Nairobi in between. Excited is an understatement. I always wonder how I’ll feel in the next place, how different it will be, what the culture is like, but this time I already know bits and pieces and it’s more about seeing how it’s changed in all of these years.
