Lumiere Lighting Up London

London is hosting Lumiere, the iconic light festival for the first time. Artists from around the world will be creating some crazy light installations. I came across this small part of it on Regent Street. Get yourself there between the 14th and 17th.

The festival originates from Durham, UK but I think we can make it even crazier in London. Today I came across a unique installation by artist Janet Echelman. Or I think it is by her so please do correct me if I’m wrong! This photo is of what she created and it allows you to manipulate the light and patterns using an app. The creation has been inspired by the strength of the earth’s vibrations during the 2011 Tsunami and Japanese earthquake. Apparently data from NASA has helped form the base of this technologically advanced artwork (I definitely had to look this up).

I’m assuming she created this as it looks like fishing nets have been used (a sort of trademark of hers). I may be completely wrong!
