No17 Dickens Yard – Unwrapping The Latest Launch In Ealing

An absolute phenomenon, you’ll be forgiven for forgetting that No17 Dickens Yard is in Ealing Broadway’s quintessential newest development. The seventh site by Darwin and Wallace has a lot of promise for being the perfect weekday & weekend hideaway in Greater West London.

Nestled within the Dickens Yard courtyard, it’s hard to miss. Close enough to the high street to be in the hub, far enough to transport you somewhere familiar and homely. A far cry from your basic bar or pub. Here’s an establishment that’s been curated with the local area in mind. The abundance of natural light is aided through ceiling to floor windows; enough light to brighten your meal and mood on the gloomiest of days.

Sustainable Community – Dickens Yard

Their dedication to be a sustainable bar is inspiring. They recycle 89% of all waste they generate. Menus are written by executive chef Simon Duff to control wastage from conception. The Darwin and Wallace group adhere to various policies around seafood, animal welfare, the commitment to only use GM-free rapeseed oil and do not purchase food products containing palm oil. Meeting its needs and yours, No17 Dickens Yard is a fundamental part of Ealing’s development into being a more sustainable (and tasty) borough.

No17 Dickens Yard’s launch was a success. Their creative cocktails flowed all night, a great accompaniment to never-ending boards of canapés. To call them canapés is slighting deceiving as that alludes to smallness in size. Presentation on the night was impressive, from the building to the wooden serving boards. The attentive wait staff kept the food and drink replenished until they wrapped up the event.

Tasting The Menu

I was spoilt for choice with varieties of fun Crostini (I felt like I was taking a gamble on ingredients I’d never tried), Artichoke and Roast Pumpkin Hummus Dip, Smoked Aubergine Falafels and Mini Honey Sausages (my favourite). They served-up Grilled Sea Bass, and their Steak, Ale and Mushroom Pie. I’m excited to go back to No17 Dickens Yard and try all the options on their menu. Bitesize brownies were the perfect treat – made from dark chocolate with a smooth centre and slightly bitter dusting to clear your palate.

The Honey Martini was my favourite cocktail, garnished with a dry pressed pineapple slice. Sweet without being overwhelming and in abundance, it made me feel fresh and very tipsy on this winter’s evening.

Outdoor heaters, artisan wooden furnishing and the upstairs fireplace and balcony overlooking the square are a decor dreamer’s haven. Perfect for those winter days and evenings in Ealing Broadway. I can’t wait to see the buzz around here during summer. Cosy but classy is how I want you to imagine No17 Dickens Yard. It’s a fresh and most welcome addition to Ealing Broadway. Brightening the borough with its ambience, offering seclusion with a wide-arm welcome.
